Center for New Technologies

Together with our friends at Haslbeck Ausstellungsprojekte and other Partners, we conceived and produced an interactive exhibition for Deutsches Museum in our home base Munich, which happens to be one of the largest technical museums in the world.
For their exhibition on nano technologies in the newly built »Zentrum für neue Technologien« (Center for New Technologies), we re-thought the way an exhibition works. Interactivity is now at the very core of the concept. Every single one of the 33 monumental cabinets is actually a media installation. The entire top panel of those cabinets is a touch sensitive surface. By pointing towards an exhibit, one can activate it, which causes the object to be illuminated while additional information is being presented on a central information screen.
This approach of making heavy use of digital technologies is also very true to the content. Todays science relies heavily on those technologies. Especially in the area of nano technologies and genetics, which are presented at the exhibition. Thus it was a logical step to incorporate the very same technologies in order to give the visitor more of a »lab experience«.
Besides the overall interactive concept, we were also responsible for the creation and production of animated scientific graphics, that are shown all over the exhibition.
This exhibition pushes the idea of the interactive museum to a new level. Interactivity is neither restricted to a small, specific area of the exhibition anymore, nor is it the content of the exhibition itself. Instead, it is the very foundation of the concept and enhances every aspect and every part of the exhibition.
