PAGE Seminar über generatives Design in Hamburg

Inhabitants of northern Germany, rejoice! We are bringing our workshop CODE = DESIGN to Hamburg on June 10th. Together we will dive into the world of generative design. We’ll introduce you to creative coding and get you started with creating your own visual experiments.
We are offering this workshop in association with PAGE and WEAVE magazine, so they are handling all registration and payment issues. We are excited about the opportunity to visit Hamburg. See you there!
It’s WEAVE time!

The new year has just started and already a new WEAVE is out!
This time, we contributed an article on storytelling and its importance for interface- and interaction design. Stories are essentially causal connections – the very thing that our brain uses to memorize things. Therefore they play an important role in almost every step of the design process.
Besides, we also teamed up with the publishers of WEAVE and PAGE to bring you a full day of hands-on training in processing and generative design. The workshop will take place in Hamburg on the 10th of June. You can sign up on this page (German).
Workshop CODE = DESIGN

If you follow this blog, you know that we are sometimes giving lectures and workshops at universities. Since then, we’ve been asked over and over to hold a similar workshop for non-students as well. And we are going to do exactly that.
On November 18/19, we will meet with ten participants in order to explore the possibilities of code as a design tool. We’ll learn how to get started with coding and how to use it to create stunning artworks.
If you are unsure about how code could possibly be of interest for a designer, just look at the corporate design of decoded conference.
It would be great to see some of you at the workshop! More information and a registration form can be found on the workshops website (German).
CODE = DESIGN
We spent the better part of last weekend in Graz with the fine students of FH JOANNEUMs information design department. They were taking part in a workshop on Processing and the general idea of computed and generative design.
Our basic idea was to present the students with snippets of code that can be combined in different ways in order to foster creative use of programming languages.
The outcomes quite frankly exceeded our expectations. You can explore them in their full variety in this flickr set.
Congratulations to all participants for what you achieved:
Christoph Mauerhofer
Franz Ferdinand Kubin
Gianna Tatzel
Julian Kogler
Lisa Weishäupl
Magdalena Kahr
Moritz Rzehak
Roland Mariacher
Thomas Raggam
We hope you enjoyed the two days as much as we did!
envis is going academic! (part 2)
Not long ago, we announced that I will be holding two classes at HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd in the coming term. Now we couldn’t be happier to confirm that Markus and I will also be lecturing at the FH Joanneum in Graz – the very university we both graduated from.
There will be one evening lecture and a two day workshop. Both are titled »Code = Design«, meaning that we will explore the variety of ways in which programmed patterns can enhance, facilitate or just speed up different kinds of design processes. We’re going to talk about generative design for screen, print and installations as well as about prototyping and hacking. For details have a look at our Flyer.
While the workshop is specifically targeted to students in their first term, the lecture will be open to anyone including non students. So if you are around Graz on October 16, make sure to drop by at Alte Poststraße 152 – it’s free! Lecture will start at 18:15, so be punctually.
