Quasar Touch – Our new iPad game

Finally, our new game for iPad is available on the App Store. We call it Quasar Touch, and it takes you into a world of dark emptiness, where your only objective is to protect a source of light.

We like the simple gameplay that can change rapidly from easy to challenging. The soundscape has been generously provided by russian artist x3d5.

Quasar Touch has been created using OpenFrameworks (which is increasingly replacing Processing as my weapon of choice for creative coding).

We’d love to hear what you think about Quasar Touch! Let us know in the comments.

Rhonda Forever!

I first stumbled upon Rhonda some months ago (how the hell could I not write a post about it then!?). It is a very interesting 3D drawing application made with openframeworks. The basic idea is to always draw in 2D, but to be able to rotate your drawing around any axis at any time, thereby creating three dimensional wire artworks. You get a pretty decent impression from the demo video on their site.

What’s new is that Rhonda now has a sister project called Sonic Wire Sculptor, which is all about music. The y axis translates to the pitch of a note and the whole drawing is revolving in 3D. Again, the demo video gives you everything you need!

Our very first iPhone App: iScraper!

iscraper-header

Hey kids! Your new favorite app has arrived at Apples App Store! We call it iScraper and it is our first submission to the store.

So, what does it do, you ask? iScraper is a fun little application that lets you view the worlds ten tallest buildings in a fascinating new way. Just move your device up to see the top of a building. Move it back down to return to the ground. Then just tilt your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad in order to switch to the next image.

You can get it now for free on the App Store.

My new type design tool: a Toyota iQ

Great project openFrameworks project by Pleaseletmedesign, Zach Lieberman and Stef van Campenhoudt! Four color markers on a Toyota iQ are tracked and dynamically converted into paths. Afterward, the images are turned into a real typeface (that can be downloaded) using FontLab Studio.

It reminded me of BMWs commercials for the new Z4. Apparently, drawing stuff with cars is en vogue now.
