Ein paar Seiten danach (74) erklärt Philipp Sackl in einem Tutorial, wie man mit Hilfe von Processing und Mathematik auf ästhetische Endergebnisse kommen kann. Zusätzlich haben Markus Jaritz und Thomas Gläser fünf verschiedene Unternehmen (Google, Mutabor, precious, UID, WHITEvoid) aus dem interactive Bereich nach ihren Designprozessen und dem generellen Sinn von prozessorientiertem Design gefragt. Die Resultate finden sich auf Seite 98.

I‘m proud to say that there is a new issue of WEAVE magazine out there. This time myself and our electronic guru Chicco contributed an article about the possibilities of the Tinkerbox.

The Tinkerbox describes all elements for your Arduino Tinkering activities. We grouped all 74 elements into categories like tools, material, input (digital/analog) and output (digital/analog) and rated them from basics to useful and nice to have. The new issue also features some cool content from authors like Cedric Kiefer, Jens Franke, Danny Franzreb, Stefan Wölwer and precious forever. It‘s worth buying…

Despite the avalanche of projects that is currently rolling over us, we had to take some time yesterday to celebrate our own Birthday. The Birthday of envis precisely. We founded our company  in 2009 on a sunny Monday morning which happened to be the 26th of January. It has been only two years, but we feel like we have been working together for a much longer time. I think that this feeling arises from the diversified experiences we made in the last 24 months.

If someone would have told us, that we will do interactive stuff for BMW, Deutsches Museum, Ravensburger and EnBW (just to name a few), we probably would have said something like:»Oh, come on. Really?«

If someone had added things like: You guys will be writing many articles for WEAVE magazine, teaching young interaction designers at the university in Schwäbisch Gmünd and lead your own workshops for generative design?

»Aha…«

envis precisely will have its own design conference called decoded (together with Reppa.Net) and you will have our own office in the heart of Munich working together with staff, freelancers and partners.

We would have said:»Stop kidding us.«

But all this things happened to envis precisely and it feels like a dream came true.

After this first two exciting years for envis precisely, we want to thank our families, friends and people who supported us from the early days on. We are extremely happy and looking forward to a prosperous future.

We have just been notified that our installation »Quasar Interactive« has won a Quality Seal at the Europrix Multimedia Awards 2010. We’re proud to be one of the few among the 300 entries from 30 countries to receive this seal.

Once again, a new issue of the design magazine WEAVE has arrived. And once again we contributed an article. It is titled »Dr. Trend & Mr. Hype«. We examine trends, our habit to make forecasts and how we are trying to order the chaotic world around us. So if you’re in the German speaking part of Europe, make sure to grab a copy! The magazine has posted some further information about the article on it’s website.

The whole design concept of the decoded conference is based on a graphic coding of words. The code creates generative forms which represent the name of the speaker, mottoes or any text you want.

The visual coding concept consists of few specified rules for each single letter. The basic geometrie is based on a triangle, each corner stands for a letter within the prompted word. All characters are located on a specific angle of a circle depending on the last position. Triangles are always built on two existing corners together with the currently created vertex. Furthermore this means that new triangles always have a same side with the previous triangle. For shaping the generative appearance the triplets of letters are therefore more important than single letters.

Color and shapes are based on the letter frequency in german. The letter »E« (17,4%) occurs more often then the a »Q« (0,02%) for example. For this purpose the guiding principle is, that less frequent letters need a more noticeable graphical change. Coming back to our example the »Q« has a more saturated color than the »E« which is setting an emphasis within the whole generative structure.

It‘s almost two days ago that we launched the decoded conference, an event which will interconnect people from the field of design and programming.

The decdoded conference is focusing at the development process of interesting projects within the limits of design and code/technology. The projects should be inspiration and build a base for further discussions. At this conference we will online show projects, that have been done or which have been prototyped already. Ideas and visions have to be brought into reality. The conference will foster the cultural interchange between the fields of design and tech. Topics and projects about generative design, gaming and human computer interaction will be presented by the speakers.

Our WordPress Article Count says this one ist number 250. Time to celebrate over one year of news and stories about Interface and Interaction Design mixed up with a little bit of envis. For the next 250 blog posts we wish that we can provide you with some information about hot and new and sometimes weird stuff again. At the moment we are preparing the relaunch of the envis-precisely website. We‘re confident that we will get it going the next weeks. The blog will be redesigned too, so watch out!

The new WEAVE is out since yesterday and it has plenty of envis in it!

This time, it’s all about Hollywood. The cover features four technological visions from the original series of Star Trek. Some of them even made their way into our lifes already.

The article we contributed is dealing with the same topic. It explores how interaction design influences interfaces in Hollywood movies and how movies influence modern interfaces. There is also an interesting interview with Marc Coleran who has designed various interfaces for well known Blockbusters. In addition to the article you can find a list with tons of movies and links about HCI and SciFi at the weave website.

Furthermore my bachelor project “Experiencing Abstract Information” is featured in the education section. Yeah!

Specifically we’re looking for digital designers with the will and the skills to make design happen rather than just talk about it. You will be working on things like interactive installation, interfaces and mobile applications. We are design studio which will give you the chance to work in every step of the creation process from first concept to final production.

Most of our projects involve a fair amount of programming work, so it’s important that you know how to create functioning prototypes yourself no matter if you prefer flash, processing, vvvv and/or arduino as your favourite tool.

The World Cup is under way and our download counter is getting back to normal. It‘s been two weeks of fame since we launched our free World Cup Schedule, a quite unusual project for us, because it‘s completely non-interactive and non-digital. Good old graphic design. Anyway…

Things were going really fast and we received tremendous support from sites like fontblog.de, loadblog.de, 11freunde.de, news.suite101.de,dersven.de, jetzt.sueddeutsche.de, funload.de, page-online.de and allesaussersport.com just to name some. Other downloadsites like www.chip.de and softonic.de decided to spread it from their own servers.

We received a lot of mails throughout the last days which gave us a great positive response. On the other hand some pointed out little mistakes which could be fixed immediately. One guy, Jimmy Hublet, was extra nice and translated the whole website and schedule into a french version. Thank you Jimmy!  After all we can announce a current total of 79.457 downloads (June 21th 2010). The team of envis precisely is thankful for your support! See you 2014 with a new schedule…

We launched our very own Match Schedule for this years Soccer World Cup at South Africa yesterday.

The internet offers a huge amount of free downloadable schedules for the upcoming FIFA world championship. But it’s hard to find any simple, handy and good-looking timetable. Therefore envis precisely decided to offer a schedule, that everyone can download and print on only two standard A4 sheets of paper. And it is available in three different languages. It’s reduced to what’s necessary but still offers enough space to fill in the results and teams in the play-offs. With the timeline next to the games, you can always keep track of when they are taking place. And best of all: it’s free!
